Chapter 01
Race
Day
Starting pistols. Split times. The particular silence between the ready signal and the gun. This is what we train for.

"The corner at turn three — that's where you win or lose it." — Marcus T., Junior Elite

"Every race starts with the same silence before the gun." — Priya N., Masters 40+

"I've been racing here fifteen years. Still get nervous on the line." — Dave K., Masters 55+

"Crossed the line and just started crying. Didn't expect that." — Yuna L., U18 National Qualifier

"The board doesn't lie. Neither does the ice." — Coach Reed Hoffmann

"My daughter skated her first race here at age seven. Now she's coaching." — Sandra W., Parent Volunteer
"The rink opens at 5 a.m. The serious ones are already there at 4:55."— Coach Reed Hoffmann, Head of Competition
Chapter 02
The
Development
Program
Junior athletes ages 8–19 drilling crossovers on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Coaches with stopwatches. Ice resurfaced at midnight so mornings run clean.

"Crossovers until your legs forget they ever did anything else." — Tomás R., U16

"She dropped four tenths in six weeks. That's not talent, that's work." — Coach Mei Lin

"The start costs you the race before it's even started." — Aisha M., U18 Development

"Every Thursday, same spot. Same lace-up ritual. It's mine." — Kieran O., U14

"Video review changed everything. You see exactly where you're leaving time." — Coach Hoffmann

"We push each other. That's the whole thing." — Dev squad, Thursday session
Technical Foundation
Blade mechanics, corner geometry, and body position drilled until they're automatic. Six-week cycles with video review every session.
Race Intelligence
Heat management, pack tactics, and split-time targets. Athletes learn to race the clock and the field simultaneously.
National Pathway
Top performers are nominated for provincial and national selection camps. Three Blade alumni on the current national development team.
Ages 8–19 · Tuesday & Thursday · 5:30 PM ice time
Chapter 03
Masters
Community
Post-skate coffee that runs longer than the session. Age-group podiums. The ones who still lace up every Thursday because the ice doesn't care how old you are.

"We've been doing this Thursday session for eleven years. Wouldn't trade it." — Sandra W., Masters 50+

"First podium at 58. Cried like a kid." — Frank D., Masters 55+

"5 a.m. long-track. Nobody else on the ice. Just you and the clock." — Ingrid B., Masters 45+

"He's been lacing my outside boot since 2014. That's friendship." — Dave K., Masters 60+

"Age division? More like a second chance." — Priya N., Masters 40+
